In the June 89 UNIX WORLD, there is an article by Rik Farrow entitled "Son of SUN Debuts" which describes the Solbourne computer. It contains two benchmark programs and the results of these benchmarks. I dutifully typed in Benchmark 1, lines.c on my SUN 3/280 running 4.0.1, and after much experimentation, finally got it to link with: cc -O -o lines lines.c -lm -lsuntool -lsunwindow -lpixrect When I tried executing it, it created a bizarre window ("Look ma! No bottom!) and basically didn't seem to do anything. I re-compiled it with -g and started running it in the debugger, and got even wierder results, forcing me to quit the window in which I invoked it. Two questions: 1) Has anyone else tried compiling and linking this program on a SUN 3 using 4.x? and 2) Did it work? I suspect that there has probably been a "typo" in the original source listing in UNIX WORLD, but I don't know enough about the window library routines to confirm this hypothesis.
