[net.unix-wizards] where did 'rc' come from?

rick (05/07/83)

Does anyone know where the 'rc' in .mailrc, .newsrc, and (most
importantly) /etc/rc came from?

P.S. I know where 'UNIX' came from... and what's Irish and sits outside...
