I'm running Sun 4.0.1 on a 3/50 with 8 MBytes being served by a 3/280.
Fortunately with the extra memory I don't page very often, but when I do
there seems to be some sort of bad interaction between the mailtool and
the cmdtool windows causing one or other to dump core. Has anybody else
seen this, and do you have any magic to keep it from happening, like maybe
a defaults setting or something? Any hints greatly appreciated. (Thanks
god for newtool, at least I don't have to recreate the window in the right
place :-)

This is a known bug, and a pernicious one, if it is what I think it is. It appears to be a bug in the shared libraries somewhere with an font pointer going off into lala land. Sun is beginning to get a fix for it. We only saw it on one system with 4/110 clients. Wondered at first if it were a 4/110 hardware problem. One workaround that I heard but hadn't tried, re-install the /usr partition. I tried a dump/restore but that didn't fix it. -tank- #include <std/disclaimer.h> /* nobody knows the trouble I .... */ tank@apctrc.trc.amoco.com ..!uunet!apctrc!tank
