[comp.sys.sun] Find "|>field<|" Key

feuerman@symcom.math.uiuc.edu (Ken Feuerman) (08/08/89)

In SunOS 4.0, running SunView, the textedit menu has an item

Find (pull right) Replace |>field<| (pull right) Next

which of course has the effect of finding the next blank in text to be
filled in and selecting it. I'd like to program this very effect into one
of the keyboard keys, probably one of the R1-R15 keys. Does anyone know
of an easy way to do this? By the way, I'd prefer the selection to be
pending delete, regardless of what the default seletection extension is
set to be.

In article <1004@brazos.Rice.edu> feuerman@symcom.math.uiuc.edu (Ken Feuerman)
asks how to select a |>field<| from the keyboard, preferably pending delete.

The only way I know of is Control-Tab, which will cycle through all the
fields in the window. The field will be selected in whatever the default
"adjust_is_pending_delete" mode is. If you do not want to have the
default be pending delete you could alway Control-Click on the field after
it is selected non-pending delete, but since the whole point is to use the
keyboard instead of the mouse this is not a very good solution.
