It says in the manual-page for the lpr-command that lpr should be able to detect whether the file being printed is a postscript-file or not (if the file starts with %! ). I can't make this work. Has anybody tried this out ? Does lpr send an argument to the filter, in order to make it behave as a transperant filter ? The reason why we want to make this work, is that we want to spool files from a uVax running VMS/Wollongong TCP/IP. This software is not capable of sending flags over to the Sun-machine that deals with the printer (i.e. lpr -v ). Knut Rogde
