We just finished upgrading our Sun network from 4.0/4.0.1 to 4.0.3, and something strange has happened to my color 3/60 in sunview. It seems that the first shelltool I spawn will not accept the color specification I give with "-Wf <r> <g> <b>". As long as that window (in black) is up, all other windows work just fine in the right colors. If I kill it, the *next* window I start in color shows up black. Has anyone else noticed this strangeness in 4.0.3? It isn't a problem, but is a minor annoyance. Such annoyances rankle me, especially since our Sun rep told us to go to 4.0.3 to "get all those lovely bug fixes". Andrew L. The problem with the first frame opened ignoring it's color arguments is not new with 4.0.3; it has happened on our 3/60's running 4.0.1, and probably 4.0. It's annoying as hell because the symptom is quite repeatable for a while, and then it goes away. In my case, it disappeared for months, and then started again a few weeks after upgrading to 4.0.3! Now that someone else has seen it, I guess it's time to file a bug report. Dave Kemp <Kemp@dockmaster.ncsc.mil>

We have some 3.5 machines that also experience the same problem. If anyone gets a patch to make this stop in 4.0.3, please let me know. -Kathryn Kathryn Fielding {uunet|zardoz|sun!sunkist}!ohio!kathryn System Administrator kathryn@thomas.com Thomas Bros.
