[comp.sys.sun] SunOS 4.0.3 Sun-4c and compatability with Sun-4/260 systems

jensen@bessel.eedsp.gatech.edu (P. Allen Jensen) (09/02/89)

Ok, we got our sparcstations and our OS but there is this one problem -
the SunOS for the SPARCstation is different than for the other Sun-4
systems. I don't want to have 2 different arch. on our boot server (the
SPARC's are diskless). Anyone know how to merge the SPARCstation OS and
normal Sun-4 OS to get a single OS that supports both ?

The RTF for 4.0.3c should say *install me LAST*. 4.0.3c is a proper
superset of 4.0.3.

Good luck. Actually there should only be different versions of the
programs that live in /usr/kvm. Other that programs that need to muck
around with kernel data structures, everything else should run on either
architecture. Now, if Sun's installation scripts are not smart enough to
handle this...

We just recieved a few 4/60s the other day but no media! Not sure if we,
or Sun dropped the ball on this one.
