Does anyone have a postscript to HP laserjet filter? I want to create documents with Sunwrite and then print them on a HP laserjet printer. Regards, Matthew Calame Cosumnes River College

Pacific Data apparently makes an affordable PostScript cartridge for the LaserJet IIP printer. If this combination works well, it should be one of the cheaper ways to achieve decent quality PostScript printing. I would assume that this combination would print faster than using GhostScript or QMS's UltraScript which are cheaper PostScript filters but are slow. John Snell Timbre Engineering

That note I posted was premature, due to misinformation from an eager LaserJet IIP salesman. Pacific Data does have a PostScript (probably not Adobe) font cartridge for the LaserJet II, but not yet for HP's LaserJet IIP. Pacific Data's font cartridge provides "PostScript emulation". Pacific Data says the cartridge is a ROM and should be around 80% as fast as the HP LaserJet II PostScript hardware interface (an expensive pair of boards for the 386i with some software). Pacific Data is in San Diego and can be reached by phone at (619)552-0880. Apparently GhostScript and UltraScript are very slow for translating PostScript graphics files for the LaserJet II printer. Any suggestions of a reasonably priced laser printer for the Sun 386i that will handle PostScript graphics files would be appreciated.
