I am trying to access the Courier constant-width font in a troff-formatted document that has Times-Roman mounted on fonts 1-3 (roman, italic, bold) and special characters on font 4. I am using the Sun Transcript package (version 2.1, 1985) that converts troff CAT output to PostScript for the Sun LaserWriter. This is running on a Sun 3/160 with Sun OS 4.0.3. I created a Courier.map file using the Times.map file as a template, then modified the Makefile in /usr/local/lib/lw/troff.font so that it made the Courier.ct file from the Courier.map file. Attempts to use the Courier font directly like this, \fCword\fP embedded in the document, fail. Attempts to mount Courier on font position 5 with .fp 5 C and to use \f5word\fP embedded in the document also fail. Attempts to mount Courier temporarily on font position 3 .fp 3 C \f3word .fp 3 B also fail. This is NOT an nroff/troff question because I know accessing the constant-width font by mounting it on font position 5 works in other packages such as xroff from Image Network Company. So this is definitely a Transcript question and is an appropriate submission to Sun Spots. Does anybody know how to access the constant-width Courier font when the Times-Roman font is already mounted on font positions 1 to 3? Thanks.
