cwraight@uunet.uu.net (Chris Wraight - UNIX Mktg) (10/14/89)

Many thanks to the folks who responded to my posting about how to get in
touch w/ Young Minds. I have included the responses below, I realize many
are duplicates, but at least wanted to credit the responders.

Young Minds themselves have been very helpful in answering questions, et. al.

|The Salesman I spoke to was Jeff Nichols, (714) 335-1350. He seemed
|to be very eager to please. They sell a CD ROM player for $1600, including
|SunOS 4.0.x driver and SCSI cables.

|Re reading the Ziff-Davis Computer Library, Sun had a demo of something
|called Microsoft Bookshelf running under DOS windows, but that was so
|the mess-dos program that searched and displayed the data could run.
|The actual data files are stored in ISO-9660 format (which is a CD-ROM
|standard), and appear under unix as regular files and directories. If
|you wanted to use grep or more to search or read articles you could do
|that. I didn't hear any news of the Bookshelf program being ported to
|Sunview or Xview on the SPARCstation, but it probably will happen.

|Michael is a terrific guy and should be able to answer
|any of your questions. I hope things are going well at
|Lotus since I am anxiously awaiting a real "software product"
|for the Sun since Lotus in a DOSwindows is not ideal.
|
|best wishes,

|My name is Dana Gauthier and I am the Product Manager for SunCD and I received
|your inquiry via our SUN-SPOTS DIGEST.
|
|The following are answers to your questions:
|
|1) The contacts and telephone numbers are as follows:
|
|	Company Contact Telephone
|
|	Young Minds David Cote	714-335-1350
|	Architectural Synthesis	Joe Thompson	615-329-9048
|	Meridian Data Greg Smith	408-438-3100
|
|2) If the application is DOS based, you will have to run it under
|DOS Windows. The SunCD uses the ISO 9660 file system and therefore
|if you conform to the 9660 naming nomenclature, you can access data
|from UNIX with out DOS Windows.
|
|If you have any questions, please contact me.
|
|Thanks,
|
