[comp.sys.sun] GP2 + CG5 problem

dav@uunet.uu.net (David L. Markowitz) (10/19/89)

I have a problem with the CG5/GP2 combination in a 3/280. It occurs under
both 3.5 and 4.0.3.

When I configure in the GP2 (gpconfig gpone0 -b -f cgtwo0), everything
looks fine, but as soon as I run suntools the display gets completely
messed up. Windows are splashed all over the screen, some portions become
black (obscuring the mouse which otherwise tracks and displays correctly),
and menus behave in a very strange way: they display correctly, but as
the mouse is dragged over them, other spots one the screen (of the same
size and shape as the menu entry) invert instead.

These boards were apparently installed by Sun (I wasn't with the company
then), but I suppose they could be installed wrong. The boards are in
slots 10-11 (12 is empty), and the switches on both the GP2 and the CG5
match the installation manual.

If the gpconfig is not done, everything works fine and Sundiag passes both
boards (but doesn't really test the GP2). If the gpconfig is done,
Sundiag fails the CG5, but the GP2 passes.

Any ideas?
