Many thanks to those who answered my request for advice re our ALM-2 problem, posted here about 4 weeks ago. Just to recap: On our SUN 3/160 all the serial ports on the ALM-2 were hanging simultaneously at random times, usually within 2 days of system boot. The problem now seems to be fixed--no hangs now for 9 days! Turns out that the problem wasn't in the ALM board or in the software, but in the cpu board. Our cpu was an old one, purchased in 1985 and the Rom rev. level was 1.5. We got a replacement board at level 2.7 from Sun Canada and so far, no problems.
