I am looking for experiences with doing large volume Analogue to Digital conversions. In particular, we are trying to collect approximately 10 samples per second from each of upto 50 channels at once. Does anyone have a feel for what sort of machine would be needed to collect this quantity of data? This assumes that appropriate boards are installed in the CPU, but I have my doubts about whether the average CPU could handle the load reliably. Alternatively, how much data would I be able to collect on Sun 386i, Sun 3/60 or SPARCstation 1 type machines? Any experiences (good or bad) would be appreciated.
