The Sun reps in California were very interested in the fix. It appears that the GENERIC kernel will not allow sunview to run and there are other nasties that some in our organization ran into. I had to make a new kernel (GENERIC will boot and run the C compiler) using the DL80 config file. However, there is even a bug here in that the line: config vmunix root on nfs had to read: config vmunix swap generic Hope this helps someone with a similar problem.
