[comp.sys.sun] problems compiling gnu-emacs on Suns

Has anyone had problems compiling gnu-emacs (in this case 18.52) on Suns?
The same code compiled just fine on VMS Vaxes, and Apollos under either
version 9.7 or 10.1 of the Apollo OS (which is notoriously hard to port
to).

Are there any special things to consider for compiling on a sparcstation?

I don't recall any problems with 18.52, but you might try upgrading to the
current version (18.55) just to be sure. In src/config.h, you should use
s-sunos4.h and m-sparc.h. You may need to increase PURESIZE if you use
the interfaces to Suntools, X, or NeWS. A Sparcstation (this one, at
least) runs the same user binaries (Emacs, at least) as any other Sun-4.
