Sun now has a fix for the display glitches afflicting many early 19" monochrome Sparcstations reported in Sun-Spots in late September. Apparently it involves adding a resistor to the frame buffer to cut down noise affecting an output register. If you have a 19" mono Sparcstation, you might want to check for this problem before your warranty runs out. Here's how. Put just the following lines in your ~/.sunview file. cmdtool -Wp 641 848 -Ws 511 52 shelltool -Wp 569 438 -Ws 570 427 Start a vanilla 4.0.3c 'sunview'. Move the mouse cursor about two inches southeast, so that it enters the shelltool. Wait for the shelltool's border to darken. If you you see a series of 14 glitches running in a narrow horizontal band about an inch from the bottom of the screen, your Sparcstation has the problem, and Sun should replace your frame buffer.
