harder to keep everyone else's mail flow down, but this is, after all, a public service.

From: Andrew Scott Beals <BANDY@mit-ml> It >sounds< like a nice idea (and maybe could foreward the unix-novices list from uucpland (if that ever starts up)), but WOULD IT DECAY TO NIL like all of the other INFO-foo mailling lists?
unix-wizards-request%brl-vgr@sri-unix.UUCP (06/13/83)
From: Mike Muuss <unix-wizards-request@brl-vgr> Recently, I was asked whether it might be possible to create yet another mailing list called something like INFO-UNIX, distinct from UNIX-WIZARDS. I decided to ask all you folks what you think of this idea. The intent would be for there to be a place where novices could communicate about UNIX, and where a lot of the grotty little problems that come up time and time again could be directed. Presumably, this would save the "wizards" list for stronger stuff. Of course, enough helpful people experienced with UNIX would have to subscribe to INFO-UNIX, or this whole scheme would break down. The bad side to this suggestion is that it makes for one more list to belong to for many of the current Wizards. My own feeling is that this is probably a good idea, and BRL is willing to transmit the list. Discussion? -Mike
