[comp.sys.sun] Upgrade 3/280->4/380

Hello fellow SUN users,

We are planning to upgrade couple of our SUN 3/280s to 4/380s, and we are
encountering some difficulty planning upgrade of our third-party
memory(CLEARPOINT).

We are planning to upgrade to 4/380 with base 8Meg configuration and
upgrade our 3rd party memory board to bring it up to 32Meg, but as many
people know SUN has changed to new kind of memory on 4/300 series.

I would like to find out if there are any 3rd party memory suppliers for
new sun 4/300 series. Also, I would like to hear from those folks with
experience in such upgrade.

Thanks

As far as I know there isn't anyone with board level memory for the newer
4/300 systems. I would suggest that you just buy 4MB SIMMS for the CPU
board and run with that until those products are available. That will
give you 32MB on the CPU board (it comes with 8MB standard). Remember
that the 4/300 CPU board requires 2 slots, framebuffer or not.
