[[Ed's Note: see v8n225 for the fix to prevent syslogd from eating 100% of CPU time. -bdg]] Has anybody come across syslogd hogging CPU time? I have the following scenario: A 3/60 with SCSI shoe-boxes for local data swap etc and some NFS mounted partitions (users' files). When syslogd is invoked it behaves well for a while and then goes CPU crazy. This has a dramatic effect on performance sisnce the machine is used by a single user at a time running simulations for between 30 minutes and 3 days. The simulations are taking nearly twice as long to complete. Where am I going wrong with syslog(d) ???? Chris
