Something really odd has been happening, which I think is impossible, but has been happening regularly from so many months that I think it must be real. Just about any program I write, but especially ones which use sunview it seems, end in segmentation errors when I run them. This in itself is not very unusual. The odd thing is that they run perfectly once or twice or even 4 times, and then suddenly get a segmentation error before the program can do anything. So then I always delete the program, re-make it, and then everything is fine for a couple of runs. But now the mean number of runs before segmentation error is getting close to 1. So I was wondering if anyone could tell me how to increase the number of runs before my programs lose their freshness. I'm pretty sure that the disk is not to blame, because the number of errors necessary to produce this effect would certainly show up in other ways. Does anyone recognise these symptoms? Thanks for any help, Alan Kennington.
