Supposing I have 180 MB of stuff on a partition that i want to back up with dump. I have a 150 Mb tape drive. I do the dump, and am informed that it uses 1.2 (or whatever) tapes. The question is, What do I do with the remaining .8 of a tape??? These tapes aren't cheap. If I tell the next dump that my tape is only .8 its actual length (and assuming i can mt fsf 1--would this even work?) then this next dump will write on only .8 of the next full tape. And so on. Q: Is there a good solution to this? I suppose I could use tar, but i like dump. Thanks, Tony Zador zador-anthony@CS.YALE.EDU
