I am looking for information and user experience with the new Unix-like systems for the IBM pc. In particular, what has been your success (or failure) in porting normal Unix code to the pc. I have just heard of a new system from Lantech Systems called uNETix which appears to be selling for only $99, yet claims full version 7 compatability and multi-tasking. Please mail your responses to me, and if there is enough interest, I will post the results. Eric Bergan JHU/APL ...!umcp-cs!aplvax!eric

From: Ron Natalie <ron@brl-bmd> Coherent from Mark Williams is a very nice complete Version 7 (less UUCP) port (non-Bell however) fro the IBM PC. Cost is $400. I got to spend a couple of hours on a system with this software (and I got to look at the kernel source as well) and was quite pleased. It works just like you'd expect real UNIX to. The main problem were underlying disadvantages of the IBM PC hardware. -Ron
