My subnet was recently switched to a cabletron mmac 802.3 over twisted pair ethernet wiring. All machines previously on the subnet switched over to the new wiring without problem except (you guessed it), the sun 3/50s I have. I am told that they are not quite 802.3 compatable, by by bringing them to hardware revision 17 it will make them compliant. Anyhow, Sun would like to have about $1700 for this operation which is outrageous. What I need are what the ECOs are to bring a 3/50 to rev. 17. It is my understanding that the crucial fix involves the installation of a resistor, a capacitor and some jumper mods. If someone can mail or fax me the ECOs (including a parts list), I would really appreciate it. p.s. If there is interest, I will be happy to post a summary to the net.
