First, I would get the big eeprom-based syslog-like message while I was in sunview. Needless to say, this is *very* irritating. I even had a console window up, and the message was printed there as well. (It was a stock "machine su: id on /dev/whatever" message saying that I had just gone to root.) Then, I started getting this message occasionally, even if I hadn't gone to root in hours. Painful. Any suggestions? J. Found what caused out the problem. Don't run sunview in your .login with the idea of "if I'm not on the console, it'll just error out". Well, it will. But it will also screw up some sort of internal mumbo-jumbo that makes all further console messages get printed by the eeprom. Oh well. This is kind of like the sunview bug where sunview hangs if there are nfs problems. Who knows why, just don't trigger the problem. :-) J.
