Forgive a neophite question: I have recently put together a SPARCstation 370 running OS 4.0.3. Whenever I try to run one of the graphics demo programs (i.e. stringart) I get the following error message: get_view_surface: /dev/fb is unknown fb type. initialize_view_surface: Invalid view surface name. The only difference between this machine and the other Suns we have (4/260's) is that the 370 has a CG-6 where I believe the others are CG-2's. I am still running with a GENERIC kernal, so I haven't taken anything out that I shouldn't have. Could anyone popint me in the right direction? (RTFM's welcome) -Thanks Dave

The version of SunCore in 4.0.3 doesn't support the cg6 frame buffer. Copy the SunCore library from an SS-1 running 4.0.3c and relink. 4.0.3c also includes a shared SunCore library which you may find useful. David DiGiacomo, Sun Microsystems, Mt.
