[comp.sys.sun] Sun-Spots digest issuing out-of-order?

bet@orion.mc.duke.edu (Bennett Todd) (02/12/90)

Is there some reason why Sun-Spots digest
issues are being sent out-of-sequence? I figured it was just some kind
of quirk of the local mail handlers when I received v9n36 and v9n38
without a sign of v9n33 through v9n35 or v9n37. But then I checked
titan.rice.edu:~ftp/sun-spots and what did I see but [that these digests
din't exist yet]

Are you actually generating these things in something other than
sequential order?

[[Ed's Reply: Yes, these are now being generated out of order. This is a
side effect of the fact that mail is being reflected faster to
comp.sys.sun than it is to the digest. I have to assign volume numbers for
each of the subject areas in advance and then just push them out when they
get filled. I don't think there is any easy way to make it so that the two
groups are published at different speeds and still keep the consistancy of
the volume numbers, although I'm open to suggestions. Any given volume
will appear on the mailing list within a one week period though. -bdg]]
