We are having problems producing hard-copy plots on our HP Laserjet series II. The plots are produced by a statistical package called "S-plus". Our hardware/software config. is as follows: ------------- ------------- | SUN 3-160 |=====ethernet========| SUN 3-180 | | v4.0.3 | | v3.5 | ------------- ------------- ALM2 ALM1 | | | | ------------- ------------------ | X-term | | HP Laserjet II | | running | ------------------ | S-plus | ------------- We can generate these nice 2-d and 3-d plots on the X-terminal but when trying to print them on the HP we get a partial plot or nothing at all. For example, it seems to plot the labels for x-y axis (which are just acsii characters), but won't plot the axis itself. Also, sometimes the Laserjet curser postitioning commands come are printed on the graph. e.g. '*p1154x581y'. I have dumped the plot file and it seems to be OK. No error codes are displayed on the HP status window. The Laserjet is connected to a synchronous port on the 3-180 and we have had *no* problems printing regular text files on it. I have checked with the S-plus vendor and they can't see anything wrong with our setup. I am wondering whether our printcap entry is wrong. Ours is: hp|Hewlett Packard:\ :lp=/dev/tty0d:\ :sd=/usr/spool/hp:\ :xc#400:\ :fc#0177777:\ :fs#040:\ :xs#40:\ :br#9600:\ :pw#80:\ :pl#60:\ :if=/usr/lib/hpf Can Laserjet II users send me theirs for comparison ? Any other ideas? Please reply to: Internet: gihill@storm.lakeheadu.ca Bitnet: gihill@lusun
