[comp.sys.sun] anyone know how to use xnews with a different window manager?

The OpenWindows 1.0 Installation and Startup Guide says in a wonderfully
terse 3 lines that you can run xnews without running Open Windows.  But
try to get it to work!  Hah!  Does anyone know how to make xnews work with
another window manager?  And if so, can one still run a NeWS program now
and then?
