I am looking for an implementation of the inetd, for SunOS ideally, that understands the concept of system load averages. For example, I would like several services to cease to be available if the load average exceeds a certain value (e.g. nntp, spad, uucp, telnetd). I would like to offer a different version of a service if the system is heavily loaded - may be a shell script saying "go away, try later" Calls that are already connected should be uneffected. I would like to be able to tailor the max and min load averages on a per service basis. I know that most of this can be done by hacking lots of separate programs (nntpd, uucpd, spadd, etc, etc). But it would be nice to have a simple standard way of doing it.
