I see from the news that there are a number of people with 4.1C (we are one). Overall, it has been satisfactory, but there are still some things which are worrying (like why some system-calls sometimes fail for no reason or give no error when they plainly didn't work). So I am interested in hearing from other 4.1C sites of their experiences and to swap bugs. Incidentaly, at the European UNIX Systems User Group meeting at Bonn in April, Sam Leffler said that there would be no virtual memory file-mapping facilities in 4.2. Modifications to the system in the this area are to be included in a later release, 4.3 (there are problems with the 750 microcode on paging). 4.3 should be ready in Jan 84 and should be 4.2 plus the mapping bits, but some architectures may not be able to support these extensions. Of course, that was April. Things may have changed. Jim McKie ....decvax!mcvax!jim ...philabs!mcvax!jim
