I am having problems with the parallel port on a 3/80, trying to get a Kyocera F1000 laser to print dvi files. I have used the dvi2kyo filter to produce the file to dump to the printer, and I know that it is OK because the F1000 works fine on its serial port (it has both serial and parallel, but parallel should be faster ...) The cable is a standard Inmac PC job. When I try to print the file (either with lpr, or even dd) the printer just produces rubbish. It works OK for text files, although I've only tried small ones. As I've said, the dvi file is fine if I use the serial port, so I suspect a bug in the 3/80 parallel port. I have checked that the pp0 driver will pass 8-bit characters, so I presume that it must be a handshaking problem. Has anyone else come across this ? Sun UK have patched pp.o to "1.1 89/05/19", but to no avail. Any ideas ???
