[comp.sys.sun] SunOS 4.1 and Domain Name Service?

Nslookup and whois no longer work for me under 4.1, they did under 4.0.3.
My /etc/resolve.conf is 644 and contains:

nameserver      132.201.48.1

When I run whois I get:

whois: connect: Network is unreachable

When I run nslookup I get:
*** Can't find initialize address for server : Timed out
Default Server:  localhost
Address:  127.0.0.1

Has something changed?  I'm not running NIS now or when it was YP.
