A continuation of an earlier question on this. Recap: Our sun 3/280 (4.0x) server has just panicked twice, with: panic: ialloc: dupalloc panic: segmap_release addr Also, emacs would bomb when loading: Fatal error (4).Illegal instruction and vi would bomb: ld.so call to undefined procedure ioctl from0x4018e Since then, things got worse and worse. Vi and emacs failed increasingly often, for longer times, and then left for good. Nroff also wouldn't work. Eventually the sun crashed and wouldn't reboot successfully. That has killed our internet connection, so if anyone mailed me advice to aer.com, it hasn't gotten through. Motorola maintenance replaced the cpu, disk controller, and repartitioned the disks, running Suninstall. The machine now comes up multiuser with a stripped down rc.local. With the old rc.local, it hangs on "mount -vat nfs". The harried sysop -- for he's doing this, not me -- can do this mount in single user mode. It also works if it's moved to an earlier spot in rc.local, but then something else hangs later in rc.local. Retries result in earlier hang ups. Finally, "panic: ialloc: dupalloc" has reoccured. Does anyone recognize what's happening, from this fuzzy account? If you do, or have advice on what to try, please post to comp.sys.sun or mail to my umb address below. Thanks.
