[net.news.group] USEsubNET

john@frog.UUCP (John Woods, Software) (11/22/85)

Alright, we've had a lot of discussion about backbones not wanting to
carry junk. We've had a lot of mumbling about alternate pseudo-backbones
for unpopular groups. Now is the time for action.

As a start, I am willing to participate in an alternate USENET (as the
Subject indicates, a subnet) for what used to net.bizarre. I propose the
name ug.bizarre (which was suggested once before). If you are interested in
participating (I would vastly prefer it if you would call frog, but if it
would serve mail or other useful purposes, then we could call you), please
send mail to ...!decvax!frog!john. As an added bonus, I will gateway the
ARPANET list "info-cobol" onto ug.bizarre (if it gets off the ground), and
will (by hand) gateway good ug.bizarre postings onto info-cobol (ITS Cobol
maintainers* tend to be very picky about the quality of postings on
info-cobol...).

So, if you are interested, send me mail. If you think it is a stupid idea,
if you are specifically disinterested, if you got food poisoning at lunch,
keep your opinions (or onions) to yourself -- the whole point of this is that
it need never cost you a cent!

Say YES to ug.bizarre!

* ITS Cobol maintainer: one who assists in maintaining the cobol-free status
of the Incompatible Timesharing System.
