I have a problem that I am sure that someone has solved before. We do not have the comfort of a workstation per person and therefore sharing and good manners (log off when done or leaving) is required by the users of our SUN WORKSTATIONS. Such manners just do not exist here. I tried invoking lockscreen to be by default "lockscreen -e" which would allow new user to log off previous user but it seems that our users now refrain from using lockscreen. This also does not work unless sunview is in use. Is there not some simple way that something like "screenblank" could be used to determine workstation idleness and instead of blanking the screen be used as a trigger to logoff the offending user. What we really need is an automatic disconnect(logout) after 20 minutes idleness as defined by no keyboard/mouse input. WE DON'T need to start a local war by vindictive users , just some predetermined time period that all users are aware of and of the consequences of hogging workstation. Please E-mail any suggestions to: randy@ai.dee.nrc.ca and I will summarize replies.
