There's a small (but annoyning) bug in ofiles-4 from titan.rice.edu: there's a call to kvm_open() which is missing the last argument, the error string. if by chance /vmunix, /dev/kmem, /dev/mem, or /dev/drum are not world readable (for example, on our machines), ofiles will dump core when it tries to print out the nonexistent error string. This should probably get fixed in the archives... VOICE: w:212-854-5434 h:212-932-3023 | The important thing about a battleship INTERNET: marg@cunixf.cc.columbia.edu | is that it shoots. I noticed that bug also, when I was integrating the 4.0 and 4.1 support into my version of ofiles, which has a number of other features. It also should run on any SunOS or Ultrix release, and even plain-jane 4.2 or 4.3 on Vaxes.
