[comp.sys.sun] SunOS 4.1 Domain Name Service RESOLVER

tcurrey@x102a.harris-atd.com (currey tom 76327) (07/21/90)

Is this a bug?

I cannot get a SparcSLC running SunOS 4.1 to resolve names for telnet. I
have the correct /etc/resolv.conf and ran ldconfig. I added the default
router and started in.routed. Also, nslookup knows the domain name server
and works correctly

Every thing works fine on the patched version on SunOS 4.0.3. Does anyone
know whats going on?

If you are running YP(NIS), make sure that the the resolver is actually
being called when an entry does not appear in YP(NIS). In 4.0.3 this
required adding the -b flag to makedbm in the makefile in the YP
directory.
