I have a network of Suns into which I would like to incorporate some Decstations running Ultrix. I need to know how seamlessly this can be done, and would like to hear from people who have experience with this combination, specifically with regard to Yellow Pages and sendmail. The Decstations will be running as NIS (i.e., YP) clients, with perhaps one as a slave server, with a Sun as the master NIS server. Does this work reliably? Are there any quirks? (Is that a silly question? :-) How does Ultrix deal with the hosts NIS database? With a Sun running its MX sendmail, hosts must be registered with the campus ("authoritative") nameserver. Unregistered hosts are not recognized, even though they are in /etc/hosts or the named cache. Please respond by e-mail. I can post a summary if anyone wishes. Thanks. Kenton C.
