We have put a Xylogics 472 controller and CDC 9-track tape drive on one of our Sun-4/490s running SunOS 4.1. The controller board is in slot 7 and we are able to use the drive. However, we are getting the following error messages: Aug 9 18:10:17 xx10 vmunix: xt0: stray interrupt Aug 9 18:10:17 xx10 vmunix: spurious VME interrupt at processor level 5 Aug 9 18:10:17 xx10 vmunix: VME level 3, VME vector 0xffffffff Aug 9 18:10:17 xx10 vmunix: spurious VME interrupt at processor level 5 Aug 9 18:10:17 xx10 vmunix: VME level 3, VME vector 0xffffffff Aug 9 18:10:17 xx10 vmunix: spurious VME interrupt at processor level 5 Aug 9 18:10:17 xx10 vmunix: VME level 3, VME vector 0xffffffff Aug 9 18:10:17 xx10 vmunix: spurious VME interrupt at processor level 5 Aug 9 18:10:17 xx10 vmunix: VME level 3, VME vector 0xffffffff Aug 9 18:10:17 xx10 vmunix: xt0: stray interrupt While Sun doesn't officially support the 9-track drives on its SPARCServers, has anyone out there used them without getting these error messages? Is there something we've missed? Thanks, Barbara Fraser Software Engineering Institute Carnegie Mellon University byf@sei.cmu.edu

In article <1990Aug15.235621.7477@rice.edu> you write: >We have put a Xylogics 472 controller and CDC 9-track tape drive on one of >our Sun-4/490s running SunOS 4.1. Whenever you add a new VME board, you need to remove the jumper on the front of the card cage for that slot. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=+ Phil Meyer email: vitec!phil Home: (214) 6254130 Work: (214) 733-8625 | mages!phil | =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=+
