Hmm...I tried to post this query about a month ago, but it looks like it went into the bit bucket, so I'll try again. Can the hostid returned by gethostid(2) be faked under SunOS? I could obviously write my own gethostid function and link it in with any new programs, but what about trying to fool a statically linked a.out that calls gethostid(2)? I have implemented a floating license server ala Frame, and I would like to make sure that I'm not wasting my time by using the hostid. Thanks in advance...
