[comp.sys.sun] Characters lost while "stuffing" in GNU Emacs?

jsulliva@killington.prime.com (Jeff Sullivan) (08/16/90)

I am using GNU Emacs version 18.53.3 under SunOS 4.0.3. The problem I
have is that I cannot "stuff" more than a certain amount of text into an
Emacs buffer. The limit seems to be 256 characters.

This is very annoying, since I can "select" much more text than I can
"stuff". Does anyone know what causes this limitation and how to work
around it?

 Any help appreciated,
 -Jeff

I have found that pasting into emacs using the mouse doesn't work well. If
you use the copy key (L6) to copy the selected text into the paste buffer,
then move the mouse pointer into the emacs window and use the paste key
(L8), it works much better.

Using mouse selection under Sunview between a Shelltool window and an
emacstool window does not have a 256 char. limit! I often select-copy
more than that.
