Is anyone aware of any imminent plans for a 24-bit version of X? I can only find 8-bit X software and would like to run "true color" on my pricey 24 bit framebuffers. Thanks.

Just last week, somebody posted diffs for the MIT X reference server,
supporting both the cg8 and cg9 frame buffers. Check out comp.sources.x
for the posting.
If anybody out there has a SS1 kernel that supports a cg8, I'd love to
hear about it. I have a RasterOps TC board that emulates a cg8 and I'd
love to use it on my SS1 (running SunOS 4.1, that is).
