Hardware: Sparc 1+ OS: 4.1 Sendmail: As installed from Sun, /usr/lib/sendmail. Sendmail.cf: /usr/lib/sendmail.subsidary.cf YP master: MicroVAX II, Ultrix 3.0 I believe I may be confused about something, but I'm just not sure what. When using the above configuration, sendmail doesn't resolve YP based aliases. Is there something that has to be 'turned' on or changed to make sendmail make use of YP based aliases? I have verified that the aliases are available on the system by executing a 'ypmatch dan mail.aliases'. The return value is 'dan@cedar', the system where I recieve mail. DEC's version of sendmail works a bit strange in that it resolves YP aliases internally with no changes to the .cf file. Basically, if YP is running and mail.aliases is present, DEC's version of sendmail uses those aliases. Does Sun's version of sendmail work in a similar fashion? I have gone as far as compiling Sendmail 5.64 on the Sun (many thanks to the readers of comp.mail.sendmail for their help) and proved that YP aliases can be resolved with that version. I would, however, like to stick with the vendors version of sendmail if at all possible. Thanks everyone. Dan O'Neill Cadence Design Systems dan@autosys.com San Diego, CA {uunet|ncr-sd}!asihub!dan
