Can all the people who sent me mail in response to our 'find invoked by cron hanging the Sun4/380' please resend me their messages. I'm really sorry about this. My mail spool filled up and I lost all the incoming mail. Here is a brief description of my problem: Within the last 5 days, one of our Servers was hanging every night sometime between 3.15 am and 3.30 am. This happened 5 out of 5 times. Intially we thought it might be a temporary hardware glitch and rebooted the machine. But after it happened twice in a row, we became suspicious and started searching for other explanations. We checked the cronlog and determined that the machine was hanging after 'cron' started the: 15 3 * * * find / -name .nfs\* -mtime +7 -exec rm -f {} \; -o -fstype nfs -prune command. Right now we are 95% certain that running this command (manually or through cron) on a Multiuser system will hang our System. NOTE: Running the same command in single-user mode doesn't cause any problems. Thanks very much for your effort. Bala Vasireddi, Phone: (415)962-5036 Synopsys, Inc.
