Has anyone done this before?? I want to get an external SCSI hard disk for my Sun 3/50... The best prices for external SCSI drives seems to be in the Mac market... Is there any reason I can't get a Mac external hard disk... say one that has a Quantum Prodrive 80S drive in it (which is in Sun's /etc/format.dat) and just connect it to the Sun using a SCSI cable (50 pin to Mac type SCSI)?? QUESTIONS 1) Can this be done - any problems... extra work on the Sun side...??? 2) Where can I find the cable? 3) I was looking at a Quantum, 80Mb, 18ms access time, premium external from Third Wave Computing Inc Austin TX for $689. Why them? they include some Mac software that I would not mind having for my Mac and the prices seem OK - What do you think? 4) Performance issues? (It's gotta be faster than a 4Mb diskless Sun...) Thanks [again] in advance for any help... UUCP: ...!{linus | mit-eddie}!alliant!doherty ARPA: alliant!doherty@eddie.mit.edu Dave Doherty (508) 486-1326
