Has anyone written a combination of lockscreen and screenblank where upon no mouse or keyboard input the screen locks or in the case of a console the user is logged out???? I would appreciate a copy of such a program or any suggestions or info or comments on where I can find this program (or something close to it).

I have written a small in-house program to do what you have suggested. It is not a version of screen blank, it instead is an independent program which watches the keyboard and mouse and locks the screen after a pre-defined wait period. You can run this program simultaneously with lockscreen if you want the functionality of both. I've included the program below and it's available via anonymous ftp on corona.ITD.MsState.EDU.
