Somehow we have managed to get our swap partition mangled (I believe). The symptom shows up when trying to compile a FORTRAN program with f77 -O (Optimization) -- this results in a segmentation fault from f77pass1. The manual says, that one should use a lower degree of optimization if -O fails because this option uses a lot of swap space. We have been using full optimization for years and this problem occured suddenly. Is there a utility to check the swap partition (fsck wouldn"t do it because there is no U*NX-filesystem on this partition. I tried savecore to remove a core dump if there were any, but this didn"t help. How can I clear the swap partition without reformatting the entire disk ? Please help if you can... Thanks, Martin.
