We have just installed our first IBM RS6000 (320, AIX 3.1) onto our network which is mainly Suns. We are able to mount a nfs file system onto the IBM from the SUN. When the IBM copies/writes from the Sun file servers (3/160, 3/60, 4.0.3), they crash with the following message: qucis2 vmunix: kmem_free: misaligned pointer f1f69b7 qucis2 vmunix: panic: kmem_free As soon as it reboots, it crashes again if the IBM user hasn't aborted his copy. There is no problem with mounting IBM file systems on the Sun3 and there is no problem with using file systems from suns which are running the following combinations: sun3 4.1 sun3x 4.0.3 sun4 4.1 I have heard of the similar nsfd hanging problem and we have already applied the jumbo patch and the ufs_bmap patch on the Suns. We are not planning to upgrade to 4.1 for at least a couple of months, so I was wondering if anyone else has seen or fixed this problem or are running this combination (sun3/4.0.3 and IBM 320/3.1) without any trouble. - gary (powley@qucis.queensu.ca.)
