I wonder if anyone would be interested in helping me here... I am looking for information pertaining to the ratio of Unix System Administrators to users/workstations. 1) What do you think is an ideal number? 2) What ratio does your organization currently have? 3) How long has your organization been using Unix? 4) How many unix 'boxes' does your organization have? 5) Is your environment homogeneous? (all Sun standalone?) or widely varied? (5 different Unix OSes with hardware from 20 vendors?) 6) Is there any other point(s) that you think are relevant to determining the ratio of sysadmins/users? I am trying to find out if there is any 'typical' or 'standard' number of sysadmins that an organization would hire based on what and how many systems they have. I will keep all information confidential, and I will post a summary of the results when I get the answers. Thanks in advance for your time and cooperation.
