Has anyone out there had any experiences (good or bad) trying to access OEM a16d16 cards on Sun systems? The card and Sun system in particular are an IRIG-B Time-code reader card in a Sun 4/390. Writing a device driver is not necessary for this card. All that the card does is decode IRIG-B time code information and place the data in four 16-bit registers, so an mmap() or low-level I/O to /dev/vme16 should be fine. Problem is, both of these methods fail to work and produce bus errors. I know the card is working as I am able to read the card's registers from the monitor (PROM) program. I have been in contact with both Sun and the card manufacturer and have been told that everything I'm doing is correct. Both the card and the Sun appear to be functioning correctly - just not together. Please E-mail me any advice/help anyone can offer - it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance, Chance P.S. The card responds to both supervisory and user address modifiers. Also, the VME revision level of the card is C.1. I was told that this revision level matches the Sun 4/390, but I have yet to see this documented anywhere. * Chance C. Geurin, geurin@cod.nosc.mil * * Naval Ocean Systems Center, San Diego, Ca. *
